The corset is tightened around my body, and I do my best not to wince for mother is seated at her dressing table. A slight pungent odor originates from a small glass which rests between her brushes and perfumes, and while she has begun to pour more of the dark colored liquid from the bottle which is kept hidden in the bottom drawer, I realize she is too distracted to notice my present discomfort caused by the dressing maids.
Though I do my best to quell my own expressions, the disapproving looks that surround me as layer upon layer of lace and satin fabric is pulled onto my figure do not attempt the same. The girdle has been synched and my breath comes in small inaudible puffs, and I feel lightheaded.
My stomach has made a sound, and I am reminded of my hunger. It has been a day and a half since I have last tasted food, but none will be given to me so long as my mother finds fault in the way my dress fits upon my frame.
I wish for the wretched custom to end. Never am I allowed to dress myself, and each and every day from when I could first remember my mothers maids have poked, prodded, pinned and pinched in order to make certain that I look completely perfect before anyone in the house has a chance to see me. From the hair that has never been cut above my waist, to the shoes in which my feet and toes have been tautly fastened into, I am the doll; not the child.
At last the pale silk ribbons have been tied into my hair and the ritual is over. I face my mother's sharp gaze, but the light in her eyes has been somewhat dulled by the drink which is now in her hand. After a critical stare while I turn several full circles, she gestures with her arm, and the maids are excused from their morning duty. I remove myself from the room before I am detained by anything else, and my footsteps echo down the hall as I rush directly to the study.
My small hands knock once, then twice against the heavy dark oak doorway and when I hear a reply, I turn the engraved copper handle lean my full weight against the door until it has opened.
"Good morning, Lavinia." Father's smile greets me. I return the smile and rush into his arms.
Sometimes I believe he is the only one in the world who cares for me.
...Lavinia is actually a boy that has been dressed as a girl since birth for very disturbing reasons. -_-
This character was originally created about 3 years ago when *Pandora123 had her first contest. I adapted my original character Lith as an entry with a rather stupid little story to go with it, but afterwards completely forgot about him until recently thanks to *Miss-It-Girl and decided to resurrect him so to speak but with a different name. Since I think the way I draw girls makes them look manly anyhow, so cross-dressers are very easy for me. XD
I like your brain!! ....Does that sound weird? Wow Fran, how come I've never been allowed to read what you write? Hmmm?! This pic description is the closest to any story I've seen from you... But! Anywho.. about the picture... heheh I agree, you do kinda draw your girls on the manly side. However, I think it's because they aren't sweet, delicate little flowers. No. They're more like "Someone I wouldn't wanna meet in a dark alley while alone"... And I mean that in the nicest way possible So glad I was able to influence you into resurrecting this character (I wonder what else I could influence you into doing... ) Love that dress! It's so pink and cute~<33 I like the brightness to the left of the figure and then the impending darkness on the right. See pookie, it isn't hard to do non-white background j/k
I don't share any of my writing because it SUCKS. D< And one day I will draw a pretty girl. One day.... The original always wore this pink dress with black lace, so I updated the design a little. ^^ And shush! White backgrounds are my friend.
oh my... this was so long ago... he has such a sad story it makes tears come to my eyes. he has such a troubled face, you can tell he has been through so much. the dress is so elegant and very victorian the detail to the front is so beautiful. its lovely to see you drawing inspiration from your old work i find it quite eye opening especially when you see how much your abilities have changed.
Thank you so much. One thing I'd like to point out is that even though I never changed his background story much, he was never actually physically abused. And I added more characters so he isn't lonely; he has an older half brother that he eventually goes to stay with, though Lavinia still wears dresses, so I think he's pretty much messed up for life. X_x
Wow, that is such a cool drawing! I love the story behind the character too. It's very unique!

yeeah once you get put into a dress from an early age you know your lifes gonna me screwed up from then on XD its nice to see you developing your story - you have so many characters they just need a story to give them more life!
dooon't be afraid... unless its being scared of actually seeing your characters in your sleep and thinking their real. if thats the case don't worry - you get used to it eventually ^-^

`karemelancholia is one of the most genuine deviants you could ever met. Always active and a true deviantART cheerleader and supporter in every aspect. You can always count on her to lend a hand or get involved, and you usually will find her doing large amounts of both at any given moment. She's consistently reports on contests around dA, showcases the efforts of her fellow artists and shows her charitable side through various activities. Besides all of this, she's a truly talented artist which is why she's an obvious choice for deviousness this month. Read More
